Copenhagen coffee scene

The Copenhagen coffee scene is next level, and honestly you could plan an entire trip to Copenhagen simply around visiting all of the city’s local coffee shops and cafes.

And Copenhagen’s coffee shop culture is beneficial to all, whether you need a pick me up in the long days of summer, or a cozy spot to find reprieve in the dark, cold days of winter.

If you’re heading to the Danish capital and looking for the best coffee in Copenhagen, below are 8 Copenhagen coffee shops and cafes we had time to personally try during our four nights and five days in Copenhagen.

When heading to these Copenhagen coffee shops, just remember that Copenhagen overall is quite pricey, which includes your favorite latte or espresso. Expect a cappuccino or latte to cost between €6.00 to €8.00. For a coffee at one shop listed below, we paid €13.00 for a single drink. But this is par for the course regarding most things purchased in Copenhagen.

The copenhagen coffee shops we tried AND LOVED

April Coffee Roasters Copenhagen Coffee Shops

April Coffee roasters

For the true coffee snobs, connoisseurs, whatever you call yourselves, April Coffee Roasters in Copenhagen is THE coffee experience. Featuring the most expensive coffee I’ve ever purchased (most coffee in Copenhagen is expensive and this is top of the cost per cup list), but also featuring a full coffee experience, including a tasting menu that requires reservations in advance.

You can sit in the very cool cafe and have your coffee or get a coffee to go to sip on while wandering around Copenhagen. We did the latter, which maybe wasn’t cool, but what we needed to do to accommodate our toddler.

Locations: Pilestræde 39, 1112 København, Denmark

Latte and Cortado at Kompa9 Cafe in Copenhagen

Kompa9

Not strictly a coffee shop and more of a breakfast and brunch spot, however we wandered in here towards the end of the day simply to grab coffees and dodge the rain.

I wish we could have ordered food as it looked delicious, but nonetheless our coffees were consumed in the absolutely coziest setting as it rained in gloomy Copenhagen outside.

Location: Kompagnistræde 9, 1208 København, Denmark

Copenhagen Coffee Shop HANS Coffee

HANS Coffee

A great coffee shop to grab both coffee and traditional Danish breakfast, we loved the art gallery basement vibes of HANS Coffee in Copenhagen. A perfect coffee shop to find reprieve from the rain or cold.

Location: Boldhusgade 6, 1062 København, Denmark

o12 Coffee and Eatery Copenhagen Best Coffee and Cafes

Ø12 Coffee & Eatery

Probably our favorite food destination during our travels to Copenhagen, Ø12 Coffee & Eatery offers both delicious coffee and delicious Danish breakfast. You can get coffee to go, or grab a table for a delicious meal all day.

We loved it so much we came here two mornings for breakfast.

P.S. - this spot is toddler / baby friendly as they have high chairs available (and space) for your little ones!

Location: Silkegade 1, 1113 København, Denmark

Copenhagen Coffee Shop La Cabra

La Cabra Copenhagen

A very hip coffee spot, also located near the King’s Gardens, roasting their own coffee and providing a fresh and natural interior space to slowly sip them in.

Location: Møntergade 3A, 1116 København, Denmark

Breakfast and Coffee at Studio X Kitchen Copenhagen

Studio x Kitchen

A beautiful cafe setting to grab breakfast, coffee or lunch or a baked good. They have a few individual tables, outdoor seating and a long shared table indoors.

We visited for breakfast and coffee and they only take walk-ins. Studio x Kitchen is located near the King’s Garden so a good breakfast or lunch option to combine with a visit to the green space.

Location: Dronningens Tværgade 52, 1302 København, Denmark

Latte Coffee Collective Copenhagen

Coffee Collective

With locations throughout the city, Coffee Collective is synonymous with Copenhagen coffee culture. The perfect spot to pop in and grab a coffee whenever that caffeine need hits. It did look like people were on their laptops here, so possibly laptop friendly if you need a remote working space (but always ask of course).

Location: Kristen Bernikows Gade 2, 1105 København, Denmark

Pastries Andersen and Maillard Copenhagen Coffee Shops and Cafes

Andersen & Maillard

For that on-the-go breakfast and coffee or that afternoon snack, Andersen & Maillard is the perfect stop to grab a coffee alongside your favorite Danish pastry.

Location: Ny Østergade 15, 1101 København, Denmark
