Best Paris Coffee Shops (By Arrondissement)
Coffee Shops in Paris
In search of a good cup of coffee in Paris? Over the past few years, Paris has had an explosion of small, boutique, bean-forward coffee shops scattered throughout each arrondissement of the city. These Paris coffee shops often offer delicious coffee inside an atmospheric setting, and are one of the best ways to take a break or find a cozy spot inside away from the unpredictable Parisian weather.
I spent many afternoons during my three years living in Paris scouting out my recently saved coffee shop and testing their cup of joe. And during this three year stint (and every visit since), I tried my fair share of Paris’ coffee shops.
In this Best Paris Coffee Shop guide, I’m sharing my list of coffee shops I would recommend visiting during your time in Paris, organized by arrondissement. I don’t really have a “this is the singular coffee shop you MUST visit” in this list, because they’re all different and all offer either a really good cup of coffee, a really great atmosphere or both.
My advice is to save the ones that interest you to your Google or Apple maps, so that if you find yourself in one of the arrondissements and seeking a cup of coffee, you don’t have to feel overwhelmed in the moment figuring out where to go (trust me - this helps in Paris)!
Apart from this list, any Parisian cafe is going to have coffee on the menu, so you can also pop in to a corner spot near you if you’re looking for more of that classic French cafe experience.
MANY FRENCH COFFEE SHOPS AREN’T LAPTOP FRIENDLY
Before diving into the Paris coffee shop list, I did want to share that most Paris coffee shops aren’t laptop friendly.
The French are pros at the art of doing one thing at a time. You’ll never see them carrying more than they can tow around the city. You won’t find them in the park talking on their phones. They are present in whatever singular activity they are doing.
This is never more evident or more true than when the French are eating (or drinking) something. Whether it’s a meal, coffee or glass of wine, those shared moments are meant to simply be just that. A break from the day to sit and chat and enjoy being present with another human being or by oneself.
The coffee shops of Paris are of the same culture. When you enter the coffee shop doors, it’s not a place of work, rather, it is a social event and a time to pull away from your l’ordinateur (screen).
The second, more practical reason that many Parisian coffee shops are laptop free is the simple lack of space on the interior of the shop. Stores and restaurants and yes, coffee shops are as typically small as you expect them to be, meaning they don’t want you to take up the one of five tables with your computer all day.
All that to say, if you’re planning a remote working trip to Paris and imagine waltzing into any Paris coffee shop and plopping down to work, you might want to think again. That isn’t to say it’s entirely off the table. Your Parisian hotel likely has a working space, and there are some shops that you can spend your day working from (which I’ve highlighted in this post), however, sometimes there is a daily fee to work there (on top of the food or drinks you order) and the spaces that are laptop friendly might be pretty crowded.

1er Arrondissement
Café Kitsuné
Palais Royal, Tuileries, Louvre, Vertbois
With locations scattered throughout the city, odds are you will find yourself near a Café Kitsuné. My favorite spot is located in Palais Royal, and I often wait in the line to grab an afternoon cappuccino or macchiato to sip on while taking a break in the beautiful gardens of Palais Royal. In the Palais Royal location, there is only outdoor seating.
Locations: Palais Royal, Tuileries, Louvre, 3eme Arrondissement
Laptop-Friendly: No
laïzé Paris
1er Arrondissement & 3eme Arrondissement
Traditionally a Taiwanese Bubble tea shop (located in Le Marais in the Paris 3eme arrondissement), the Laïzé location near Palais-Royal offers both bubble tea and coffee and is a great rainy day spot in Paris.
The interior architecture of the cafe is quite relaxing and features a combination of both aged wooden beams and modern arched entryways. There is a good amount of indoor seating, and the honey latte was one of the best I’ve had in Paris (normally you can’t find flavored lattes at Parisian coffee shops, so this was a pleasant surprise).
Locations: 8 Rue de Valois 75001 Paris
Laptop-Friendly: Not sure - I did see one person using a laptop when I went.
motors coffee
1ER Arrondissement
Located in the 1er arrondissement of Paris near Les Halles, this small format coffee shop offers a few indoor seating options, benches and tables outside and the best babka I’ve had in Paris.
Location: 7 Rue des Halles, 75001 Paris, France
Laptop-Friendly: Not sure, but there isn’t much indoor seating available

Certified cafe
Beaupassage & Passage des Panoramas
Certified Cafe has a Paris footprint with two locations, both in different passages of Paris. The first location can be found in the Passage des Panoramas, one of my favorite covered passages, a must-see in Paris, and is take-away only.
The second location is in Beaupassage in the 7eme arrondissement and has both an indoor and outdoor seating space. The indoor space has a large amount of seating available with some outlets available. The Beaupassage location is a good place to grab a coffee on your way to visit the Rodin Museum nearby.
Locations: 44 Passage des Panoramas 75002 & 53 Rue de Grenelle 75007
Laptop-Friendly: Beaupassage: Yes

3ème Arrondissement
boot cafe
3ème Arrondissement
If you find yourself in the 3eme arrondissement in Paris (which you should, it’s one of the hippest areas with some of the best shopping), stop to grab a cup of caffeine from the adorable Boot Cafe. Located in an old cordonnerie (shoe repair shop), its facade is one of the cutest in Paris and the interior is just as quaint. If you’re lucky, grab one of the few bistro tables inside, or get your coffee à emporter (take away).
Location: 19 rue du Pont aux Choux, 75003 Paris
Laptop-Friendly: No
Partisan Café
3ème arrondissement
Located along a Parisian bike path, Partisan Café brings the outdoors in with all glass walls, often open to the exterior where bikers and Parisians are found fellowshipping and sipping on their delicious coffee. It’s a rather large space, so you shouldn’t have issues finding a seat whether you prefer interior or exterior. Come with your journal, your favorite book or your coffee-loving amis (friends).
Location: 36 rue de Turbigo, 75003 Paris
Laptop-Friendly: No
fika paris

Laptop-Friendly: It can get really crowded, so I assume no.
SAFE Urban Concept
3ème arrondissement
Coffee shop in the front and concept store in the back, we found Safe Urban Concept on one of our first days in Paris. This is less of a location to visit for the artisan coffee experience, and more of a space if you need to get some work done for the day. No one will judge you if you plug in, put your headphones on and sip multiple espressos as the hours pass by. They do require a minimum amount spent (or you can pay for the entire day at once), but I usually just order a coffee, then a snack, then lunch, etc.
Location: 11 rue Commines - 75003 Paris
Laptop-Friendly: Yes (outlets at each table)

Noir Coffee Shop
1eme,7Eme,8eme,16eme, Marché Dauphine & Ile Saint-Louis
With locations opening across the city, Noir Coffee is another option you’ll likely run into throughout your explorations of Paris. The Ile Saint-Louis location is my favorite spot to work (the location has a furnished basement with outlets), and they just recently opened a location in Marché Dauphine, a great place to take a break during your day of antiquing. No lunch option, but they do have some pastries.

Minicafé Paris

The cutest, tiniest, little hole in the wall coffee shop in Paris, Minicafe sits in between Pont de la Tournelle and Pont Marie, making it the perfect stop to grab and go when crossing from the right bank to the left bank of Paris.
There is no indoor seating, but there are some curbside stools available. They also sell cookies and the best red bean mochi I’ve ever had.

Bonjour Jacob
6ème & 10ème Arrondissements
The concept here is good coffee and good books/magazines. That location only sells magazines, while the location in the 10ème sells both magazines and books.

Located in Marché Alimentaire Saint-Germain (near Saint-Sulpice), Cafe du Clown is a small coffee shop with both interior and exterior seating. The cafe offers specialty coffee and patisseries.
Location: 6 Rue Lobineau, 75006 Paris
Laptop-Friendly: The space is so small I would assume not, but possible if it’s slow and you’re not hogging a table.
Maison Fleuret
6ème Arrondissement
I accidentally stumbled into this coffee shop on the second day they opened, and their concept is still one of my favorites in all of Paris. The owners converted a prior ancient bookstore into a modern-day coffee shop, and the current space features the original bookshelves, lined with neutral-colored books. Add in an iron spiral staircase leading up to a small loft of tables and this is the place of my dreams. They offer all of the coffee classics as well as pastries and lunch.

Saint Pearl
5eme Arrondissement, 6eme Arrondissement, 7eme Arrondissement, & 16eme Arrondissement
A very popular spot for both locals and tourists, Saint Pearl’s location in the 7eme arrondissement is more of a brunch restaurant than a coffee shop, however their coffee beverages are pretty tasty. If you order food, be sure to get the Flowery Pancakes for the most beautiful pancakes that you won’t want to eat. You can order take away coffee if you just need a cup of joe, and just know that if you go during lunch hour, you’ll likely have to wait in line. P.S. - there is no public bathroom.

Walking in to On Partage in the 11ème arrondissement of Paris feels a bit like coming home. The space has a warm charm that greets you upon entering and is the perfect spot to enjoy a brunch or lunch with friends or ton amour (your love). A cappuccino is my go-to coffee order, and they had one of the best I’ve had in Paris. They also had the best cookie I’ve had since my time in Paris, so if you’re into cookies and coffee, this is your place.
